AnimeNEXT 2016: Burgers, Animation, and… Open Mics?

Uh oh, my AnimeNEXT pre-con post is late! Good thing my panels are totally ready (nope) and my Otaku USA deadlines are all squared away (nope). Despite my poor time management, if you’re in Atlantic City, NJ this weekend for AnimeNEXT, please stop by one of these lovely panels from me and Ink. We’ll understand if you don’t, of course — AnimeNEXT attracts some of the best guests and panelists of any convention I attend, so there’s a lot of competition.

  • Anime Burger Time (Friday, 1:15pm, Evan): The greatest (and only) anime convention panel dedicated entirely to hamburgers makes its way to AnimeNEXT. Do not miss this life-changing experience. BYOB (Bring Your Own Burger).
  • Animation in Anime (Saturday, 10am, Evan): This is the first time I’ll be presenting a panel entirely about the animation process and famous key animators in anime history. Come learn about “sakuga” from a person who likes to just say “animation” because “sakuga” is needless fan jargon that alienates newcomers!
  • The Geek Index Open Mic (Saturday, 7:30pm, Ink): The original presenters dropped out, so resident anime poet (and hibernating Ani-Gamers editor) Ink will be hosting a poetry/music/etc. open mic. I won’t have my guitar with me, unfortunately.
  • How Anime Gets Made (Sunday, 12pm, Evan): In this panel, I talk about the entire production process from start to finish. There’s some crossover with “Animation in Anime,” but I’ll try to keep the clips mutually exclusive. The first 15 minutes of this conflicts with Studio Trigger’s Space Patrol Luluco panel, so I expect all good boys and girls to be 15 minutes late.

If you see us running around the convention, don’t be afraid to stop us and say hi!
